In the world of entrepreneurship, the pursuit of personal development and success is often intertwined with the journey of healing. But what does healing really mean, and why is it so crucial for your well-being and business success?
Before diving into the tools and techniques to achieve personal growth, it’s crucial to address a key point: Why do we often feel overwhelmed, paralyzed, procrastinate, or make impulsive decisions despite having access to abundant resources and teachings?
This behavior is often referred to as self-sabotaging. If that term feels too harsh, consider it as dysfunctional patterns. These patterns stem from our inner beliefs, or what we might call the ego—a concept that helps us identify the part of ourselves shaped by our experiences and identity.
The Journey to Self-Healing
For those on a quest for a better life, whether just starting out or further along the path, the journey is essentially about healing ourselves. Until we do, dysfunctional and self-sabotaging behaviors will persist. Without healing, we operate like possessed puppets under the spell of our ego, which we developed as we grew up to “protect” us from life’s challenges.
Rediscovering Our Divine Nature
As adults, we often forget an essential truth: We were all born perfect, from a divine force that some may refer to as GOD, the universe, collective wisdom, or sacred power. This concept is emphasized in spiritual scriptures, religious texts, and ancient wisdom. Observing babies, we see their inherent belief in their omnipotence and god-like powers, a phenomenon termed “Omnipotent Narcissism” in psychology.
Babies manipulate their environment to meet their needs simply by crying—they are born divine. However, as we grow, we drift further from this divine force through a process called individuation. Developed by Carl Jung, a prominent psychologist from the 20th century, individuation describes how humans form their identity and ego through the meanings they ascribe to their experiences and observations during upbringing.
The Role of Ego in Seeking Meaning
We are wired by our genes to seek meaning in things and situations based on survival instincts. Without understanding the meanings of our circumstances, we can’t form habits and patterns hardwired into our subconscious to save brain processing time and energy in similar situations.
Our ego constantly asks two questions: “What does this mean?” and “What does it mean about me?” This process helps form our sense of identity. For instance, if a baby cries for milk but doesn’t get it, it might conclude, “I am not god; therefore, I am not good enough.” Repeated experiences like this can form limiting self-beliefs.
Conversely, a baby raised with unconditional love and support is likely to develop empowering self-beliefs like “I am enough,” “I am good,” and “life is abundant and easy.”
The Path to Healing and Self-Development
As we grow, our ego develops to protect us in a hostile world but also distances us from our divine origin. The journey of personal development and self-healing is about reconnecting with this source. On a spiritual level, it’s finding our way back to divinity. On a rational level, it involves gaining awareness of our limiting beliefs and the experiences that shaped them, and working to prune these beliefs with therapies like NLP, hypnotherapy, and coaching.
Ultimately, the goal is the same: to remove the effects of our dysfunctional self-beliefs and paradigms and restore our connection with our divine source.
By understanding and addressing these fundamental aspects of our psyche, we can better achieve true success and fulfillment in both our personal and professional lives.
